Owners of promising 4yo mare Wishlor Lass were rewarded for their patience yesterday as she made her racetrack debut at Warrnambool.
It was a fairy tale beginning for the large group of connections as Wishlor Lass bolted in by seven lengths. Not only was it her debut win, it was rider Josh Cartwright’s first winner back since March 2020 after he took a break from race riding. It was a rewarding win for the stables as well as Josh, given he had done a lot of the educational work with Wishlor Lass as a 2yo.

It was the first winner raced by the Dallas Ludeman and Symon Wilde breeding operations. Dallas and Symon purchased the mare Lorna’s Lass after purchasing her foals through the sales and racing them with success. Loricain, Skyway Star and As I Please all siblings of Wishlor Lass and winners were trained by Wilde Racing. When the mare came up for sale, it seemed logical to purchase her given we had such good luck with the earlier progeny. Wishlor Lass was the foal at foot when Lorna’s Lass was purchased. There is something about winning a race with a horse that you have bred that makes the win a little more satisfying.

Congratulations to the winning connections.
