Wilde Racing enjoyed a terrific day on their home track at Warrnambool on Thursday, coming away with a well‑deserved winning double thanks to Empress Rossa (pictured) and Big Rooster.
Empress Rossa kicked off the day in style, breaking her maiden under a perfect front running ride from Linda Meech. After two promising seconds to start her preparation, it was pleasing to see her convert that form into a victory. The four‑year‑old has rewarded her ownership group for their patience, continuing to mature and strengthen with each run. She gives herself every chance by jumping well, settling on speed, and her genuine liking for wet tracks is a positive as we move through this time of year.
Later in the program, Big Rooster returned to the winners’ circle with a gritty performance. Jack Hill gave him a great ride, lifting the gelding late and using every bit of effort down the straight to ensure Big Rooster had his head down on the line — scoring by the narrowest of margins. It was his third win this preparation, a testament to his consistency and toughness. Although he is handling the wet ground well, there’s a sense he may be even better suited on firmer footing, suggesting there are more wins in store for him.
A fantastic result on the home track, congratulations to all involved.
