Wilde Racing couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2026, opening the year with a winner at Terang on Friday and following up with a dominant double at Geelong on Saturday.

The stable struck first at Terang, where Wichitall (pictured) set the tone with an easy victory, delivering Wilde Racing an early-season winner and signalling the team’s intent for the months ahead. It was a great result for his loyal owners who have stuck with him throughout this preparation. First and second up he ran well from wide barriers before being disappointing on a soft track at Horsham. If you could forgive his last start Wichitall had the goldilocks recipe to win at Terang. With plenty of summer racing and firms tracks upcoming we are hopeful to see Wichitall in the winners’ stall again before too long.

The winning momentum rolled straight into Geelong, where Wilde Racing enjoyed a memorable double. Darkbonee was the first to salute, continuing the stable’s winning run. For a horse that has had six starts he still has a lot to learn. He ran his races in patches. Coming down the straight, Darkbonee had to dig deep and rally to get the victory. It was a thrilling result for owner/breeder John Richards.

Precious Charm capped off the day winning the featured Coastal Classic. She showcased her quality and will to win against strong opposition. The track surface was not to her liking, it was firm and she was reluctant to sprint on the hard track. She was determined to get the victory though and kept grinding to the line to win by a small margin. Precious Charm now has an incredible nine wins to her name and $430k in prizemoney.

Three wins from two meetings made for an ideal start to 2026. Congratulations to all the winning connections over the weekend.
