Rising jumps star Tolemac made it two wins from two starts over the bigger fences with a demolition job at Sandown in the Australian Steeple on Sunday.

In a race that was set at a dawdling tempo, Will Gordon settled Tolemac just behind the leader. He put in a faultless display of jumping and relished the heavy track conditions. He travelled well throughout and always looked like he had the race in his keeping. Will Gordon put Tolemac into the race at the right time. With no weight on his back, he stalked Riding High for most of the way. At the 700m Tolemac took over the lead and dashed 4 lengths clear. When he jumped the last, there was daylight to second as Tolemac went on to win by 12 lengths.

With his liking for soft ground, the jumps season isn’t over yet for Tolemac as we build towards the Thackeray steeplechase back at Warrnambool in July.

Congratulations to the winning connections.
