Tikemyson returned to his best on Saturday, producing a strong and decisive victory in the Sheep Hills Cup at Warracknabeal — a performance that marked a welcome turnaround in form after a challenging start to his preparation.

The gelding had been below his usual standard in recent runs, but the team has long suspected the wet tracks were holding him back. With a firm surface finally on offer, Tikemyson showed exactly what he’s capable of, travelling comfortably throughout and letting down strongly when it mattered.

A significant part of the win came courtesy of a superb ride from Linda Meech. She never went around a horse, hugged the rail from start to finish, and timed her run perfectly as the gaps opened. Once Tikemyson saw daylight, he quickened and put the race away with ease.

Saturday’s victory confirms he is back in form and ready to build momentum. With upcoming conditions that suit, the team now looks forward to targeting a series of country cups across the spring and summer, where Tikemyson will aim to add another cup to his CV.

A terrific result for his connections – congratulations to all.
