Stockman secured his first win over the hurdles at only his third start at the caper. He was narrowly beaten at the May Carnival before running third at Terang when a beaten favourite and not everything went right for him that day. Farag got the better of Stockman at Terang, so it was nice to get the better of him at Warrnambool on Sunday.

With Steve Pateman in the saddle, he gave Stockman a great ride. He was three wide the trip but settled into a lovely rhythm and was able to get a good look at his hurdles to measure and jump well. With the heavy 8 track conditions it looked a nice race for Stockman to break his maiden status over the hurdles. Every start he has had this preparation will only stand Stockman in good stead for the 2026 jumping season.

The win on Sunday was the 10th of Stockman’s career and he has now surpassed $1.9million dollars in prizemoney for his connections. It shows what jumps racing can do for a galloper who has lost interest on the flat but jumping has rejuvenated him and extended his racing career. We thank Proven Thoroughbreds and Joe Pride for giving Wilde Racing the opportunity to train Stockman.

Congratulations to the winning connections.
