Sephia broke through for a deserved victory on Thursday at Warrnambool, with a superb ride from Lachlan Neindorf proving the difference.
Neindorf was adamant prior to the race that the inside ground was holding up just as well as any other part of the track, and if Sephia was to win, she needed to save ground and hug the rails rather than circle the field.
The result was a particularly rewarding one for her patient ownership group, who have always believed in her ability. Unfortunately, a series of injuries and minor niggles, along with an extended spell, meant it took time to get her back to the races and performing at her best.
While Sephia doesn’t always make things easy for herself, often being slow away from the barriers, Thursday’s victory was a testament to the perseverance of everyone involved.
Congratulations to her owners. Hopefully this is the start of things turning in the right direction for Sephia as she continues to build on what was a well-deserved success.
