Sasqualah made the long trip to Bendigo on Saturday for the lucky last of the day. Luck it was as she won the BM64 1300m by 1.5 Lengths. She got her favourable track conditions and was given a patient ride by Fred Kersley which allowed her to produce a good turn of foot and finish the race off well.
A mare who has been up a long time, it was great to see Sasqualah back in the winners stall. We know this family well having raced many of the progeny and they tend to get better with age – this mare looks to be no exception to the family line.
Blazing Guru (pictured) broke her maiden status at Horsham on their cup day. It was great to get the win for owners Nick Rule and Sandy McGregor who sourced this mare from New Zealand. She has taken a long time to mature and get to the race track, hopefully their patience will continue to be rewarded. Blazing Guru was given a lovely ride by Tom Stockdale, she was under hard riding a long way from home but he kept picking her up and encouraging her to pick up and travel. The further the race went, the better she got and was she strong through the line. Blazing Guru will only get better with racing and stepping out further in trip will certainly do her no harm.
Congratulations to all our winning connections on the weekend.
