Queen Christine shed her maiden tag in style at Hamilton yesterday, winning easily, albeit taking longer to break her maiden status than we expected.
After going agonisingly close in several of her recent starts, the filly finally had conditions fall her way — and she made the most of it. Damien Thornton gave her a patient, confident ride, allowing her to settle, travel, and build momentum at the right time. Once she balanced up in the straight, Queen Christine showed exactly what she’s capable of, stretching out strongly to score a well‑deserved victory.
She is a filly who has continued to improve with each outing, and as she refines her racing manners, she looks to have plenty of upside still to come. Yesterday’s win was a pleasing reward for her connections, who have shown faith in her development.
Congratulations to the winning connections.
