The journey to Swan Hill on Monday was made much easier when Persian Spirit was able to break his maiden status in the first race of the day.
Tough conditions and a firming track didn’t seem to phase Persian Spirit who was the ultimate professional pre race.
He jumped well from the awkward draw but with early speed from the runners inside, Dean Yendall elected to go back to second last and get some cover. It is lovely long straight at Swan Hill and Persian Spirit tracked into the race under a good hold. He peeled out and collared the leaders quiet easily, although still green and learning is craft, Persian Spirit went on to win by 1.25 lengths.
A bargain buy from the Inglis Premier Sale 2022, the team at Grand Syndicates along with John Price purchased the gelding by Cable Bay for $6000. His win on Monday plus the bonuses has already seen his earnings reach the $30k mark. It shows you don’t need to spend big money to get a nice horse.
Congratulations to the winning connections.
