A gutsy staying effort over 2200m saw Navy King hold off a strong field to claim the $65,000 Hamilton Cup for Wilde Racing and connections. Jake Noonan gave him a peach of a ride, and Navy King did the rest.

We were prepared to forget his last run at Flemington; the track was a bit hard. He’s better suited with a bit of give and he got that at Hamilton. If you put a line through his last start, Navy King has been ever so consistent this preparation.

With five wins from 23 starts and over $250k in prizemoney, Navy King continues to prove himself a reliable and honest campaigner. Plans for a let-up may now be shelved in favour of finding another suitable target while there is still some give in the tracks.

Congratulations to the winning connections.
