Developing stayer Navy King brought up his third win at start number nine for the preparation at Flemington on Saturday.
He is a gelding that has shown plenty of promise but has struggled to get it right on race-day. Wanting to jump and run earlier in the preparation, it has been a credit to the team and his riders to iron Navy Kings wrongs on race day.
With the slight gear change of the addition of the Norton Bit and a lovely draw, we seen what Navy King can do when he gets his race day manners right.
Purchased for $90,000 at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling sale, Navy King has already surpassed his purchase price in prize-money for his connections. Saturdays win taking his earnings to just shy of $153,000.
As long as Navy King continues refine his race-day antics, the ownership group will have a lot of fun going forward.
Congratulations to the winning connections.
