The beginning of the spring carnival sees Mortlake host their once a year Derby day meeting featuring the Mortlake Cup as their main race of the day.
Allouvre (pictured) was an impressive maiden winner in race number two of the day. She had derived plenty of experience from her debut performance at Hamilton. She put the field away to win by 3.75 lengths.
It is a credit to her ownership group who have given Allouvre the time she needed. Plagued by injuries as a young horse, she needed plenty of time to rest and recuperate. Her connections will hopefully continue to reap the rewards as we look to step her out again.
Chimed has found his sweet spot at around the 2000m mark bringing up back to back wins. Breaking his maiden over the 2200m earlier in the year, Chimed was set for a jumping campaign however failed to finish at his jumping debut. A freshen up while in work, Chimed is yet to run a poor race around the middle distance range. He was rated perfectly in front by Linda Meech and never looked like being run down as he cruised on to win by over two lengths.
Congratulations to both groups of winning connections.
