The Warrnambool May Carnival for 2025 has come and gone for another year. Wilde Racing couldn’t be prouder of the team back at home that help bring the results throughout the week.
It was a carnival of “near misses” in a few of the races. It was a great result to finish up the three days with three winners.

Sephia (pictured) was the first of the three winners on Wednesday. She somehow overcame difficulty early in the straight, to go on and win with ease. She is a filly that has shown promise from the get-go and the ownership group have been very patient with her. She had been in work a long time but thanks to their patience, we were able to take our time with her, and we saw the result on Wednesday.
From her two starts to date she now has a second and a win to her name. We look forward to seeing how she progresses through the grades over the coming months.

Persian Spirit, the horse everyone would love to own. For a $6000 purchase, he has had eleven starts for three wins and eight minor placings, not to mention a tick over $129k in prizemoney.
The scenes in the mounting yard after the last was something!! A large group of Persian Spirit’s connections had made their way down to watch him go around.
It was typical Warrnambool weather but that didn’t seem to deter them from cheering Persian Spirit home in a narrow finish.
Harry Coffey gave him a masterful ride given Persian Spirit was suspect on the wet ground. He saved ground where it counted and much to everyone’s delight Persian Spirit stuck his head out where it counted.

Back to the scene of the crime where Whistle Down broke her maiden status last year, she found herself back in the winner’s stall on Thursday at this year’s carnival.
She seems to have a liking for the softer track conditions, and she got those on Thursday. The step out to 2000m suited as it took Whistle Down almost the entire straight to get her head in front.
Whistle down is a horse you can’t stop and start in her races; she likes to be out and building momentum which is exactly what Linda Meech did. The widest on the track, Whistle Down kept building to bring up her third win of her career from only nine starts.

Thank-you to all our owners who continue to support Wilde Racing and Congratulations to all our winning connections.
