Maincourt broke through for his Maiden victory at Geelong on Saturday in a tenacious manner under the urgings of Jason Maskiell.

He settled at the rear of the field but pulled out at the 1000m mark and made a long sustained run. He hit the front a long way out and floated a bit in the straight but he dug deep late. It was a good, tough, determined win and he will learn a lot from the experience. That was only his fifth start and he should continue to improve with experience.
