Learning on the job is the only way to describe the lightly raced Star of Tavistock, who brought up win number two at Warrnambool on Monday.

It was a different scenario from his maiden victory where he lead and controlled the speed throughout. On Monday, Star of Tavistock was in a lovely position in the one/one.
Stable mate Galloping Guru started to increase the tempo from around the 600m and it left Star of Tavistock flat footed, he couldn’t quicken with them. On the turn, he was going nowhere.
Once they straightened and Will Gordon asked Star of Tavistock for an effort, he knuckled down and chased down the two leaders. In the end being left flat footed as well as put in a pocket worked in our favour as it gave Start of Tavistock something to concentrate on.

A big thank-you to the owners who have being incredibly patient with this horse. They certainly look like they have a devloping stayer on their hands.

Congratulations to the winning connections.
