Kaituku was a winner at Sandown on Wednesday giving his owners a great thrill winning a metropolitan race. Putting the writing on the wall at his previous two starts this preparation for a forward showing on Wednesday, we knew the step up to the 2400m wouldn’t be an issue. On paper it looked as though Kaituku was going to be able to dictate his own terms on pace and that is exactly how it eventuated.
Mark Zahra rated him beautifully out in front, set a lovely gallop from barrier to the winning post. Kaituku galloped well to the line beating stablemate Bazini by a length.

From his nine starts since joining Wilde Racing, Kaituku has been in the money on seven occasions, giving his large group of owners some fun at the races. After running a competitive race in the Ararat Cup and a comfortable win on Wednesday, there looks to be some upside with the lightly raced 5yo over the staying trips.

Congratulations to the winning connections.
