Bonnie little mare Torobeel Muriel and Coastal Town provided the team with a double at our home track yesterday.
Torobeel Muriel (pictured), small in stature and large in attitude followed up her good debut win at Naracoorte with a tenacious victory yesterday. She now has the perfect race record of two starts for two wins.
For a mare that didn’t hit the racetrack until she was a 5yo she was lucky to have debuted at all, when the thought she was too small to be any good. Owner and breeder Marg Lucas was happy to give the mare time in the paddock and it seems to be the making of her. It shows, you should try them all as they come in all shapes and sizes and all levels of ability. With two wins on the board and her jump and run racing pattern, we could possibly look to a Friday night meeting at Moonee Valley for Torobeel Muriel’s next start.
Coastal Town was the second winning leg of the double, finally getting the luck in running and getting a well deserved win on the board. He has been a frustrating horse for connections particularly this campaign where he seemed to find more bad luck than good. He has mixed his form this preparation and it was great to see him bring his work from home to the racetrack yesterday. Stepping up to the 1700m for the first time, Coastal Town seemed to relish the longer trip and eventually looks as though he will step out to the 2000m with-out any troubles. Hopefully with the win on the board, he can build his confidence and put together a couple of consistent runs for his ownership group.
Congratulations to both sets on winning connections.
