The team made the long haul to Bendigo on Saturday with three runners and it was great to bring home a double.
Hans Albert having his second career start rewarded his very patient owners, breaking his maiden status at Bendigo. He is a big, strong horse that has taken time to grow and develop. He made an encouraging debut at Swan Hill but he was sent to the paddock to continue devloping. He is a very laid back customer so with the addition of blinkers, we hoped it would spark him up on race day. Given a great ride by Josh Cartwright, when Hans Albert missed the start, Josh didn’t panic, he allowed the horse to travel under his own steam, wide with cover. Although he won by a small margin, the second horse had an easier run and our horse will derive fitness from Saturday’s outing.
Darci’s Debut (pictured) has come back this preparation in great form. Her trials leading into Bendigo suggested the spell has done her the world of good and she is the furnished product.
It was great to get the win for the OTI team who sourced the 4yo daughter of Darci Brahma from New Zealand. Although she didn’t beat strong opposition on Saturday, she won convincingly and her win suggests she will be competitive up in grade.
Congratulations to the winning connections.
