After a false start at Warrnambool the week earlier, Gundec was all class winning in fine style at Geelong on Tuesday. Gundec jumped well and always looked in control as he settled outside the leader.
Coming into the straight, he was never going to beat and if anything he hit the front too soon as he started to wander late and prick the ears.
After a Victorian Derby campaign last time in work, the team have tried to keep the speed in his legs as we look to head towards middle distance staying races for him.
He may not have beaten a great field on Tuesday but they way he did it was encouraging and sets him up nicely for the Bendigo Guinneas in ten days time.
For a 3yo colt, he has a great temperament and keeps his mind on the job on race-day.
We are looking forward to the preparation ahead with hopefully bigger things installed.
Congratulations to the winning connections.
