Promising 3yo From A Distance was a deserving winner at Flemington on Saturday. After been luckless there two weeks prior, it was great to see him back up that run with a win.
The tempo was strong, and he settled in a lovely position, 4th and trailing the hot speed. He is a gelding very much learning his craft as he was on and off the bridle throughout the race and laying in over the final furlong when he got lost in front on his own. Rider Declan Bates was full of praise for From A Distance saying his certainly a horse to look forward to next preparation and over further.
It was a terrific result for owner/breeder John Sutcliffe and co-owner Gerry Ryan. John was there to enjoy the win on Saturday. As we all know the hard work that goes into breeding a horse, that a win with a homebred is very satisfying and a little more meaningful.
Congratulations to John and Gerry on a fabulous win.
