Promising 4yo gelding Gimme Gold was a winner at Donald on Friday. A lightly raced gelding by Fiorente, Gimme Gold is a strong individual who has taken time to mature and grow into his big frame.
Raced by our great client Marg Lucas (Look Great Racing) who breeds the horses herself, Marg is in no rush in getting them to the races. She is quiet happy to give them plenty of time and often her patience is rewarded,
Jarrod Fry rode Gimme Gold like he was the best horse in the race, keeping him out of trouble and taking bad luck out of the equation. After jumping only fair from the barriers, Gimme Gold mustered speed to take up the lead. He was under pressure a long way out but one by one he fought off all challengers to get the maiden victory. Being only his second race start, Gimme Gold wasn’t too sure how to put the race away but Jarrod was confident that when challenged he had enough horse underneath him to get the win on the board.
