Cool King (pictured) and Star Testymony were both winners at Geelong on Tuesday over the staying trip.
Cool King broke his maiden status at start number 10 for his very patient owner Dwayne Smith. By Fiorente, Cool King was always going to take time and need the staying trips to show his best.
John Allen rode him a treat. Coming to the home turn Cool King always looked to travel comfortably. Last start we questioned how genuine he was but on Tuesday he galloped away to win by 3.75 lengths.
Now that Cool King has had a couple of runs at the 2000m plus trips, he is conditioned well and hopefully we can find a similar race in the coming weeks to continue on his winning ways.
Star Testymony brought up win number three of his career and a race to race double for the stable. He has a tendency to drop the bridle and not travel well mid race. Lester knows him well and was urging Star Testymony on from a long way out. Last start up in grade, he was finishing hard once he got clear running. Yesterday Star Testymony was able to continue to build momentum and as always was doing his best work late in the race. He didn’t win by a big margin, but he did enough to secure the victory. Purchased for $70,000, Star Testymony is well on his way to covering his purchase price.
Congratulations to both groups of winning connections.
