New addition to the stable Cleitus was a winner at his first start for Wilde Racing at Werribee on Saturday.

It was almost the win that didn’t happen after surviving a marathon swim his first morning down at the local lady bay. Cleitus dislodged his rider whilst wading in the water at the beach and instead of heading back to shore where 99% of the horses would swim, Cleitus made a v line out to the middle of the ocean and beyond. If not for the bravery of one of our staff members Jordyn Murphy and the assistance of Paddy Bell and a local fisherman, we have no doubt that Cleitus wouldn’t have survived.

Celitus’s win on Saturday provided another tale to the story that just seems to keep giving. We were thrilled to get the win for his owners so quickly after joining Wilde Racing and his not so easy introduction into our training regime. Although we don’t plan on making marathon swims part of Cleitus regular training routine, he does continue to enjoy a much shorter swim down at the lady bay.

Congratulations to the winning connections.
