Promising 3yo gelding Darkbonee was an easy winner at Bendigo on Wednesday.
Taking plenty of natural from his debut run at the Warrnambool carnival where he was an eye-catching run from behind, Darkbonee jumped and settled much closer to the speed at Bendigo.
He settled behind the leaders, on the fence and he always looked like he was travelling well. Luke Currie (rider) needed a little bit of luck at the top of the straight. An opening appeared and Darkbonee took the gap. Still very raw and not really sure how to flatten out properly, he went on to win by two lengths and potentially could’ve been a bigger margin, as he looked to win easily.
It was a pleasing win for owner/breeder John Richards, who bred the gelding by Palentino out of the mare (Lake Sententia) who he raced many years ago.
Darkbonee looks to have plenty of upside, we look forward to seeing how he progresses through the grades.
