Cotton Eye Joe headed to Warracknabeal for his first try at 2000m and relished the trip. Ridden by Harry Grace, Cotton Eye Joe was able to secure a spot 3 back on the fence and travelled beautifully throughout the race. Coming to the 400m mark Harry was able to angle Cotton Eye Joe off the fence and from there he was looming into the race stylishly. At the top of the straight it appeared that Cotton Eye Joe had plenty to offer but just needed clear running. A gap opened and Cotton Eye Joe was able to burst through to secure his maiden victory.
