Boggy Creek Boys went one better at Donald yesterday, breaking his maiden after going so desperately close on debut. He travelled well throughout and, when a run presented itself at the top of the straight, he pushed through decisively to take up the lead. From there he was left in front a long way from home, which may have contributed to him wandering late, but he stuck on bravely as the fast‑finishing Camelot Time closed in.

It was an especially satisfying result for owner and breeder Bill Couch, who also raced the mare, Miss Shrimpton. Boggy Creek Boys looks to have inherited plenty of her ability, and this early win suggests he has genuine upside as he continues to strengthen and learn his craft.
