Big Rooster made the perfect start to his preparation on Sunday at Terang, breaking his maiden in strong style under a Jamie Mott.
First up from a spell and tackling a heavy track, the gelding relished the conditions and travelled comfortably throughout. Mott had him in a good spot early, allowing Big Rooster to build momentum before asking for an effort in the straight. The response was immediate, with the gelding stretching out strongly through the line to score a well‑deserved victory. Big Rooster was very green in the straight, showing there is still plenty of upside with the lightly race gelding.
The stable has always felt he would appreciate some give in the ground, and Sunday’s performance confirmed that he’s come back in excellent order this campaign.
A terrific result for his connections and a pleasing way to kick off his preparation.
