The trip across the SA boarder to Murray Bridge was a successful one for Bellakai. She was a little disappointing the start prior at Sandown, when nothing came to light as to why, this race looked a perfect option for her to recapture her form. Bellakai was given a lovely ride by Jake Toeroek. It was a muddling tempo, stopping and starting throughout the race. Bellakai relaxed well for the majority of the race and rounding the home turn, Jake looked to have a lap full of horse – the question was how far would Bellakai win by? She made hard work of it up the straight, wanting to lug in under pressure but it was great to see her cross the line in front.
For a 6yo mare she is lightly raced, only having the 17 starts for 4 wins and three minor placings. She has now surpassed the $100k mark in prizemoney. All being well, hopefully another win is not too far away now Bellakai is back in form.
Congratulations to the winning connections.
