Promising stayer Beachgoer got the maiden win out of the way at Mornington on Monday. He was given a great ride by stable apprentice Ronan Short to go on and win by 2 lengths.
He has been a very slow maturing horse and it was great to see him break his maiden status after two placings at his previous two starts. His very patient ownership group are starting to reap the rewards now. Beachgoer looks as though he is only going to get better over longer and coming into winter it is pleasing to see he appreciates tracks with give in them.
It was also a great thrill to get a winner for Ronan. He is a hard working staff member and a highly valued member of our team. To be able to support him through the jumping season and get the winner was a great result for all the hard work Ronan puts in day to day at the stables.
We look forward to seeing Beachgoer progress through the grades and perhaps a race like the SA derby might now be on the radar for him.
Congratulations to the winning connections.
