American Gas found his way into the winners’ stall at Warrnambool on Tuesday with Jake Noonan in the saddle.
Straight to the front, Jake set an even gallop, stable mate Jotopeli put pressure on American Gas early, but he was soon able to fend him off.
He gave a good kick into the home straight before starting to wander and float when left out in front on his own.
Now a 5yo, the owners have certainly been patient waiting to break his maiden status. American Gas has taken plenty of time to develop, mature and learn what his job is all about.
He was a $240,000 purchase from the 2022 Inglis Premier sale and while he is a long way off recouping his price tag, a race record of 6 starts, 1 win and 4 minor placings is a good way to start.
