A cold wet winters day at Warrnambool was made a little more enjoyable with Wilde Racing walking away with four winners.
Elvison (pictured) was the first of the four to salute. Given a lovely ride by stable jockey Ronan Short, Elvison travelled keenly behind the speed. For his first race start over the steeples he acquitted himself well and will be much better for the experience. As we head into the depths of winter it was great to see Elvison relish the heavy conditions. We were also pleased for Ronan to get his first jumping win for the stable. Ronan works hard and has done a lot of the work with Elvison. It was great to see Ronan get the breakthrough win on the board.
Georgethefifth brought up a winning double, winning the second steeplechase race for the day. He bounced back well from his fail to finish effort in the Australian steeplechase where he didn’t take to the different make of steeples. He put in a faultless display of jumping and careered away for an effortless nine length victory. Much like Elvison it was pleasing to see Georgethefifth run well in the heavy conditions. He has a liking for the jumps at Warrnambool, now unbeaten at the course and trip.
Jimmy’s Secret was the third winner for the day, breaking through for a much deserved victory after running consistently well at his previous starts. Back to the 1700m and a heavy track proved the right combination to get the win on the board. He is a horse that has taken a little bit of time to furnish but he is starting to put it all together now and becoming a nice little horse for his connections.
Valley Of Hearts bounced back into the winners circle and gave the team four winners for the day. After two disappointing runs we knew there was something not quiet right with Valley Of Hearts. It was a credit to our vet team back at home to get Valley of Hearts right and treat his little niggles. He is a horse that when he is right he has an terrific turn of foot. With the bonus of him seeming to handle wet ground and his 3yo season almost over, Valley Of Hearts could possibly head back to town if the right race showed up and hopefully get the city win on the board.
