Wilde Racing enjoyed a rewarding three days at our local May Racing Carnival last week, coming away with two strong victories, a host of encouraging placings across the program and a couple of near misses. The team’s runners performed consistently throughout the carnival, and the results were a credit to the hard work of our staff, riders, and owners.
The opening win came courtesy of the ever‑honest El James (pictured), who produced a tough staying performance to score in the BM70 over 2350 metres. Ridden by Jamie Mott, El James travelled comfortably throughout before building into his work and asserting his strength late. It was a well‑deserved victory for a horse who continues to thrive over the longer trips. The couple of runs in Adelaide leading into the win certainly had him cherry ripe to perform well in front of a host of local connections.
Golden Garden dared them to catch him in the steeplechase on the Wednesday. Golden Garden produced a bold, front‑running display to win the Victory Treadmills Steeplechase over 3450m. Given a daring and perfectly judged ride by Dean Parker, the gelding was positive from the outset, jumping well and maintaining a strong gallop throughout. It was a long straight as Golden Garden was on tired legs late. His tenacity over the concluding stages sealed a memorable win for connections
Alongside the two victories, the stable collected numerous placings across the carnival, reflecting the depth and consistency of the team’s runners. Several horses performed admirably and will take improvement from their efforts, giving plenty of confidence heading into the winter months.
Congratulations to the winning connections.
