My Uncle Did It delivered a well-deserved maiden victory at Hamilton on Friday, taking out the Ritchies IGA Hamilton Maiden Plate over 1400m.
Ridden confidently by Ryan Hurdle, she settled midfield on the soft 6 surface before popping off the rail to make her run down the middle of the straight. She put pay to her rivals quickly and may have hit the front too soon as she was lost in front on her own and started to stargaze.
It was great to get the win on the board first up this preparation over an unsuitable distance. My Uncle Did It will only get better as she steps out in trip.
She has always shown glimpses of ability, but it has taken some time to harness that energy of hers. If she can learn to relax pre-race and do a few things a little better on race-day she certainly looks to be a promising stayer going forward.
Congratulations to all involved!
