Hit The Road Jack and Enchanted Elle were back in the winner’s circle at Ballarat on Sunday. They both won effortlessly at Coleraine the week prior, and they did it again at the last meeting for the jumps season.
Hit The Road Jack controlled and dominated from the front with Aaron Lynch in the saddle. The favourite “Split” travelled just off Hit The Road Jack and always looked to be going well. When it was time to increase the tempo, Split looked to have the race all parcelled up, but our horse was able to out jump Split coming to the final two hurdles and ended up toughing it out to win by 2.75 lengths. It was a great win by Hit The Road Jack and a pleasing result given he won the race last year but lost it on protest.
Enchanted Elle (pictured), the little sister to Hit The Road Jack showed she wasn’t just a tight track specialist. Like Enchanted Elle does, she went out at a strong tempo and broke the hearts of the rivals behind her in the J J Houlahan hurdle. She led at a fast speed, but Tommy Ryan was able to give her a breather between her jumps. She is so quick over her hurdles, spends no time in the air and she hits the ground running after each hurdle. Although Enchanted Elle was on tired legs late, she toughed it out and was able to finish the season with a feature hurdle win to her name.
Congratulations to the winning connections – we look forward to these two returning for next year’s jumping season.
