It was a tremendous day at Casterton on Sunday for Wilde Racing with four of the nine runners coming home winners and three others finished second.
As we thought, many who were first up at the May Carnival would take plenty of benefit from their run and it was on show yesterday.
Enchanted Elle (pictured) rolled straight to the lead in the maiden hurdle and never looked like getting run down. She loves her jumping and the extra jump in the straight at Casterton really enhanced her chances opposed to the long flat run home in the straight at Warrnambool. The tight Casterton circuit suits Enchanted Elle’s bold front running style and she won with plenty in hand. After we had a great preparation with her full brother Hit The Road Jack, we are very thankful to Shaun Phelan and his owners to trust us with this mare as well.
Cool King won the second division of the maiden in very similar style. He was not as dashing over the hurdles but again bowled along out in front and put on a faultless display of jumping.
He is a horse who is a great example of jumping rejuvenating a horse. Cool King was running well on the flat without setting the world on fire. Sending him over the hurdles, it has switched him on and given him a new lease of life. If he can continue to settle like he did on Sunday and stay those longer trips, there looks to be a future for Cool King over the hurdles.
Allouvre backed up her first up run at the May carnival with a gritty win yesterday. Given a lovely ride by Linda Meech, she travelled well just behind the leaders. She sprinted well in the straight and done enough to hold off the closing stable mate Deeling Aces. Allouvre is a mare who has had her fair share of injuries as a younger horse but credit to her ownership group, they have given her the time she needed, and they are now being rewarded on the racetrack. She loves a bit of give in the ground, she is in at the right time of year to race her way through the grades and see what heights she can reach.
Sasqualah was our fourth winner for the afternoon. She has the perfect racing style for Casterton, up on speed and making her own luck. She was quick out of the barriers and crossed the field easy from the outside gate. Linda was able to rate her well out in front, Sasqualah cornered like a greyhound and kicked off the turn. She was challenged halfway down the straight but she kept fighting to hold on and get the win.
That was her fourth win from sixteen starts as she starts to build a nice little record. Related to the talented mare Wishlor Lass, it would be great to get a city win Sasqualah’s record.
Congratulations to all our winning connections.
