The new racing season kicked off with a winning double at Hamilton on Saturday. We had two runners both victorious with Linda Meech in the saddle.

Chimed (pictured) was able to break his maiden status at start 17. It has been a testament to the owners patience as Chimed looked likely on many occasions without getting the victory.
He found a race where everything went right for him and he was able to secure an easy victory. Chimed found a lovely spot, just off a solid tempo before they jammed on the breaks heading down the back straight. He was travelling strongly and always looked as though he had something to offer should a gap appear. Thankfully the gap did appear and Chimed careered away for an easy six length win.
We have been schooling Chimed to vary up his routine and he seems to have taken a liking to the jumping caper. With his staying qualities and ability to jump a hurdling career might be the way forward for Chimed.

Sleep Deprived was our second winner for the afternoon. With a large group of her connections on course for her debut, it was a great result for them all. Purchased from the 2022 NZ Karaka yearling sales, her owners have been rewarded for their patience has she debuted as a 4yo. She has always shown ability at home, we just needed to give her the time to mature and furnish into the mare she is now.
Although we won’t be raising the bar too high with her at this early stage, we are hopeful that Sleep Deprived will develop into a nice staying mare going forward.

Congratulations to both groups of winning connections.
