Cotton Eye Joe and Harry Grace backed up their good win at Warracknabeal with another victory at Warrnambool on Monday.
Cotton Eye Joe was rated beautifully out in front and led the race at steady fractions from the moment he left the barrier. It was great to see Cotton Eye Joe string two wins together after a frustrating time for connections. It has taken a long time for the penny to drop for the now rising 6yo but he looks to be putting the racing caper altogether. He didn’t break any records for his second win over the 2000m staying journey but it was great to follow up the maiden victory with another solid run up in class.
He is as tough as they come, thrives off the work, enjoys the heavy conditions and seems to relish a staying trip which are all good indicators that we might see Cotton Eye Joe over the hurdles in the seasons to come.
Congratulations to the large group of winning connections.
